My journey to the Alaska eHealth Network has been an unusual one that has taken me from the Midwest to the Caribbean, East Coast, the South, and even Hawaii. I spent my early years in Illinois and Kentucky, but many of my formative years were spent overseas in the Dominican Republic. I accredit the seeding of my passion for serving in healthcare to these influential years. I returned to the Midwest to pursue my education in medicine. I completed my nursing degree and dived into a full-time nursing career while finishing my Bachelor and Master degrees and moving to five different states with my husband’s military career as a Flight Surgeon.

I have worked within Acute Care settings, Primary Care, Population Health (with emphasis on Rural Health and Hispanic healthcare), Telehealth, Home Health, and Nursing Informatics consulting. I found myself returning to Health Information Technology whichever fields or states I have worked in and realized that my passion is empowering/connecting healthcare providers and patients through technology. I graduated with my Masters in Nursing and Informatics while designing and implementing a research program for CVS pharmacy utilizing telehealth measures to target health disparities in rural Mississippi. The opportunity to serve as the Data Quality and Informatics Manager here in Alaska is an exciting fit for the convergence of my diverse paths.

On a personal note, I love to spend time with my three children and amazing husband. We enjoy traveling domestically and abroad. I like to cook and believe that healthy doesn’t mean sacrificing flavor and taste. I am also passionate about fitness and try to maintain a balance by prioritizing time to run, row, and kickbox.
